Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: [Music] hello beautiful people today we’re going to be talking about masturbation the Bible does not directly address masturbation nowhere in this book does it say thou shalt not masturbate thou shall not touch thy self nothing it’s silent on that exact wording above all I believe that God can speak to all of us as individuals so when something like masturbation is not addressed anywhere in here that really gives you an opportunity to seek your spirit to see what God is telling you about masturbation so for this video I’m going to address the 7 main arguments I’ve heard against masturbation in church and also do a little response to real truth real quick and to Alan pars the beat these are both discouraging Christians from masturbating let’s go the first argument against masturbation comes from Genesis 38 8 through 10 in this verse God condemns Onan for spilling his seed on the ground most modern churches acknowledge this was never about masturbation in this verse Onan was called by God to impregnate a woman and he refused by spilling his seed onto the ground so this argument we can kind of shut down right there the second verse I heard a lot in church was Song of Solomon 8 through 4 it said daughters of Jerusalem I charge you do not arouse or weaken love until it so desires so my youth pastors basically told us that touching ourselves masturbating would be awakening our sexuality our desire prematurely but interestingly enough I read the King James Version which is a very common translation of the Bible and it reads I charge you our daughters of Jerusalem that ye not stir up nor awaken my love until he pleased that distinction is fascinating to me because in the first translation it really does sound like we’re supposed to keep our sexual desire dormant until it’s time but the second translation clearly sounds like a woman just saying my man is in that room sleeping let him sleep so if anyone has any further insight into this please let me know because that makes a big difference the third major argument against masturbation comes from first Corinthians 6:19 through 20 or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you whom you have from God you’re not your own for you were bought with a price so glorify God in your body the reason this verse is relevant is because it is all about honoring and respecting our body the temple that we’ve been given masturbation became considered an abuse of the body because of a specific anti masturbation movement I was on Bible Resources org which I’ll link below it’s an older couple talking about why we can’t masturbate and they actually brought up that an old definition of self abuse was one abuse of oneself or one’s abilities and to masturbation that doesn’t mean that it’s actually an abuse against one’s body it was just the way it was considered in that time that the definition was written so let’s break this down a little bit I want you guys to understand where this idea concept came from but masturbation is self abuse in 1716 a Dutch theologian named dr. Balthazar Becker distributed these pamphlets vilifying masturbation it was called the heinous sin of self-pollution and all its frightful consequences in both sexes is considered with spiritual and physical advice to those who have already injured themselves by this abdominal practice you guys this guy is not very concise with these titles imagine going to a movie called that oh yeah can I have two for the 8/15 the heinous sin of self-pollution and the abdominal the word that dr. Becker used for masturbation is onanism which has roots in Genesis 38 it’s referring to Onan spilling his seed so already right there you have a misinterpretation of Genesis 38 being perpetuated by dr. Balthazar Becker this terrifyingly titled pamphlet claim the masturbation caused stomach and digestion problems lost appetite or ravenous hunger vomiting nausea weakening of the organs breathing loss coughing hoarseness paralysis lack of libido back pain it goes on and on and on and on anything that can possibly go wrong with you he claims masturbation cause madness idiocy epilepsy fever and finally suicide these pamphlets were distributed in over 60 editions and multiple languages so dr. Becker had a lot of success with his poisonous anti masturbation rhetoric dr. John Harvey Kellogg was another religious zealot there was super anti masturbation you do have to consider that even though this was the 17 and 1800’s there’s still misinformation that could have trickled down from that era to scare modern-day Christians out of masturbating to this day on the other end of the spectrum I holds first Corinthians 6:19 through 20 in high esteem I really do believe that God has given us the charge of taking really good care of our bodies regardless of your spiritual stance on masturbation in 2018 we have a lot of scientific proof that masturbation and ejaculation is actually beneficial for our health some legalistic Christians will tell you that this is a conspiracy and this is where I’d say look it up yourself you guys look up the research for it in the scientific community look up research for it in the Christian community and see where you land on you to figure this out for you men research shows the ejaculation removes toxic products which decreases the risk of cancer and also prevents erectile dysfunction for the ladies research shows that masturbation can lower the frequency of UTIs and decrease period pain real truth real quick does acknowledge this it releases oxytocin zit releases you know other chemicals that are that that produce and has a sense of calm and relaxation and happiness serotonin and for me this is where opinion comes in I think it’s really interesting that it’s presented as a really terrible thing that all of these euphoric qualities are produced through pleasure and masturbation I don’t think it’s at all the same as taking cocaine or another drug to produce that these are naturally occurring in your body but this always draws me back to Romans 8:5 that verse is about your flesh battling your spirits and I think in church a lot of times we’re taught to vilify our bodies we’re told to consider our flesh to be this like antagonist of ourselves that’s always wanting the wrong thing that’s always longing to destroy us and then our spirit is elevated to you know a god-like persona something in us that is our best selves but in my opinion we should not be vilifying our bodies the way that we do I’m not at all saying whatever the flesh wants give it I’m not I’m not I’m not saying that however I think a part of honoring our bodies is to actually be assessing what our body wants that is potentially aligned with our spirit for example I’ve been really sick and I kept craving oranges I was dreaming about oranges I was thinking about oranges my body was like Brenda I need vitamin C go get it and I didn’t stop thinking about it until I gave my body what it needed and that was a way of honoring my body if you fear your flesh in your body I don’t believe you can honor it to your best ability on the other hand I do have to validate what real truth real quick is saying literally hardwires our brain it creates pathways that our brain then begins to operate on and connect certain activities with certain experiences of pleasure you can potentially become addicted to masturbation and this again is where I think we as Christians as spiritual beings are required to be still in ourselves to practice prayer and meditation and really trust ourselves to know what our boundaries are what is good for each of us as individuals if you’re using masturbation as the of punishing your partners separating from them or because you’re sad and the dopamine that is produced in your body is bringing you joy and you’re becoming addicted to that feeling you need to address those things because those are not good that’s not a good reason to be pleasuring yourself for number five we’re often told that masturbation increases our sexual desire what it actually does is it increases your a hunger thirst and craving for it even more and you are gonna want to carry that out which is gonna lead to fornication if you are married it’s gonna come a point where you’re gonna be tired of imagining yourself with this other person and you’re gonna ultimately want to have an adulterous affair with them I’ve already told you guys I am anti fear just as God is anti fear eighty times in the Bible he says fear not if you masturbate you will definitely cheat on your spouse if you masturbate you’ll just be a sex fiend those are fear-based ideas masturbation is a tool that I use to abstain from sex and it works for me when I’m thinking about not having sex not touching myself not having sex not touching myself I am only thinking about sex and touching myself versus if I choose to masturbate those thoughts are gone this will not have the same effect for everyone everyone’s body is unique everyone’s limitations and desires are unique and you have every right to assess within yourself because again it’s not directly stated in the Bible whether or not masturbating is harming you or aiding you whether it’s a positive thing or a negative thing in your life number six is the big one Matthew 5:28 you have heard that it was said do not commit adultery but I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart for me this is by far the most valid biblical argument because when you’re masturbating yes you are having lustful thoughts there are even New Age practices where you use orgasm as a means to manifest things that you want in your life I would discourage you from lusting after someone that you shouldn’t be your best friend’s husband don’t do that because if you’re alone in a room with them or an opportunity presents itself and you’ve been engaging in that thought over and over allowing yourself to release all this dopamine with that thought aligned with it you could wind up in a sticky situation because thoughts become reality that is a widely accepted principle for a more conservative perspective I found a great article in Christianity today by Julie Slattery I’m going to attach it below she presents a really measured idea of how to view masturbation the last thing I’ll say is something very personal which is that I’ve never masturbated thinking about a particular person I think about scenarios romantic moments whatever so in a way I think I kind of found a loophole and I do not commit adultery in my heart while masturbating may be a tool you can consider last argument number seven it focuses on how I can get my needs met and it will destroy the intimacy that you may have with your spouse and it is a fact that if you train your body Rick to find pleasure over a period of time by self stimulation that’s not an easy thing to flip a switch this argument drives me insane because it’s perpetuating misinformation which I hate I can assure you it is possible to orgasm in masturbation and in sexual activity with your partner they’re not mutually exclusive and also it’s based in fear religious leaders say if you masturbate you won’t be able to enjoy sex that is fear fear fear fear I hate fear my best rebuttal to this is sense8 focus therapy this technique was originated by masters in Johnson and as a therapy you can either do alone or with a partner if you have been actually violated or if you’re a man that is having erectile dysfunction this therapy is a way to heal you of those experiences to really align your mental health your spiritual health again with your body which I really believe is something that God would advocate but I have talked to a lot of Christians that have sexual dysfunction in the bedroom because of their lack of familiarity with their body or a lot of Christians go outside of their marriages extramarital affairs because they’re not being fulfilled within their marriages masturbation is not about disconnecting from your partner and doing this selfish act again if you’re a more conservative Christian I’m not telling you you have to go masturbate but maybe don’t vilify it maybe you explore you know masturbation with your partner side by side in bed and if you’re a single person or if you’re a couple that’s abstaining from sex until marriage I would not discourage you from masturbating it does not mean you’re each thinking lustful thoughts about other people I think it means that you’re preparing yourself your body for the partner that you’re going to be aligned with the more health you bring to yourself the better of a partner that you will be and it’s all about trust you guys are building trust within your own bodies and within your partnerships something I would warn about is from Alan Park if you feel any remorse at all then you can be assured that that is the Holy Spirit that is convicting you to stop whatever it is you’re doing a lot of us are going to have difficulties assessing what is true conviction what is truly wrong you feel it inside versus what we’ve been shamed to believe if we’ve been told again and again from the pulpit the masturbation is a sin and you masturbate just consider that might not be conviction you’re feeling that might be shame God does not call us to live in a shame never has never will and I don’t want you guys to feel like you have to then it’s been such a pleasure hearing from you guys please like and subscribe if you’ve enjoyed yourself god bless .

1.15 [Music]
1.15 hello beautiful people today we&;re going
1.15 to be talking about masturbation the
1.15 Bible does not directly address
1.15 masturbation nowhere in this book does
1.15 it say thou shalt not masturbate thou
1.15 shall not touch thy self nothing it&;s
1.15 silent on that exact wording above all I
1.15 believe that God can speak to all of us
1.15 as individuals so when something like
1.15 masturbation is not addressed anywhere
1.15 in here that really gives you an
1.15 opportunity to seek your spirit to see
1.15 what God is telling you about
1.15 masturbation so for this video I&;m going
1.15 to address the 7 main arguments I&;ve
1.15 heard against masturbation in church and
1.15 also do a little response to real truth
1.15 real quick and to Alan pars the beat
1.15 these are both discouraging Christians
1.15 from masturbating let&;s go
1.15 the first argument against masturbation
1.15 comes from Genesis 38 8 through 10 in
1.15 this verse God condemns Onan for
1.15 spilling his seed on the ground
1.15 most modern churches acknowledge this
1.15 was never about masturbation in this
1.15 verse
1.15 Onan was called by God to impregnate a
1.15 woman and he refused by spilling his
1.15 seed onto the ground so this argument we
1.15 can kind of shut down right there the
1.15 second verse I heard a lot in church was
1.15 Song of Solomon 8 through 4 it said
1.15 daughters of Jerusalem I charge you do
1.15 not arouse or weaken love until it so
1.15 desires
1.15 so my youth pastors basically told us
1.15 that touching ourselves masturbating
1.15 would be awakening our sexuality our
1.15 desire prematurely but interestingly
1.15 enough I read the King James Version
1.15 which is a very common translation of
1.15 the Bible and it reads I charge you our
1.15 daughters of Jerusalem that ye not stir
1.15 up nor awaken my love until he pleased
1.15 that distinction is fascinating to me
1.15 because in the first translation it
1.15 really does sound like we&;re supposed to
1.15 keep our sexual desire dormant until
1.15 it&;s time but the second translation
1.15 clearly sounds like a woman just saying
1.15 my man is in that room sleeping let him
1.15 sleep so if anyone has any further
1.15 insight into this please let me know
1.15 because that makes a big difference the
1.15 third major argument against
1.15 masturbation comes from first
1.15 Corinthians 6:19 through 20 or do you
1.15 not know that your body is a temple of
1.15 the Holy Spirit within you whom you have
1.15 from God you&;re not your own for you
1.15 were bought with a price so glorify God
1.15 in your body
1.15 the reason this verse is relevant is
1.15 because it is all about honoring and
1.15 respecting our body the temple that
1.15 we&;ve been given masturbation became
1.15 considered an abuse of the body because
1.15 of a specific anti masturbation movement
1.15 I was on Bible Resources org which I&;ll
1.15 link below it&;s an older couple talking
1.15 about why we can&;t masturbate and they
1.15 actually brought up that an old
1.15 definition of self abuse was one abuse
1.15 of oneself or one&;s abilities and to
1.15 masturbation that doesn&;t mean that it&;s
1.15 actually an abuse against one&;s body it
1.15 was just the way it was considered in
1.15 that time that the definition was
1.15 written so let&;s break this down a
1.15 little bit I want you guys to understand
1.15 where this idea concept came from but
1.15 masturbation is self abuse in 1716 a
1.15 Dutch theologian named dr. Balthazar
1.15 Becker distributed these pamphlets
1.15 vilifying masturbation it was called the
1.15 heinous sin of self-pollution and all
1.15 its frightful consequences in both sexes
1.15 is considered with spiritual and
1.15 physical advice to those who have
1.15 already injured themselves by this
1.15 abdominal practice you guys this guy is
1.15 not very concise with these titles
1.15 imagine going to a movie called that oh
1.15 yeah can I have two for the 8/15 the
1.15 heinous sin of self-pollution and the
1.15 abdominal the word that dr. Becker used
1.15 for masturbation is onanism which has
1.15 roots in Genesis 38 it&;s referring to
1.15 Onan spilling his seed
1.15 so already right there you have a
1.15 misinterpretation of Genesis 38 being
1.15 perpetuated by dr. Balthazar Becker this
1.15 terrifyingly titled pamphlet
1.15 claim the masturbation caused stomach
1.15 and digestion problems lost appetite or
1.15 ravenous hunger vomiting nausea
1.15 weakening of the organs breathing loss
1.15 coughing hoarseness paralysis lack of
1.15 libido back pain it goes on and on and
1.15 on and on anything that can possibly go
1.15 wrong with you he claims masturbation
1.15 cause madness idiocy epilepsy fever and
1.15 finally suicide these pamphlets were
1.15 distributed in over 60 editions and
1.15 multiple languages so dr. Becker had a
1.15 lot of success with his poisonous anti
1.15 masturbation rhetoric dr. John Harvey
1.15 Kellogg was another religious zealot
1.15 there was super anti masturbation you do
1.15 have to consider that even though this
1.15 was the 17 and 1800&;s there&;s still
1.15 misinformation that could have trickled
1.15 down from that era to scare modern-day
1.15 Christians out of masturbating to this
1.15 day on the other end of the spectrum I
1.15 holds first Corinthians 6:19 through 20
1.15 in high esteem I really do believe that
1.15 God has given us the charge of taking
1.15 really good care of our bodies
1.15 regardless of your spiritual stance on
1.15 masturbation in 2018 we have a lot of
1.15 scientific proof that masturbation and
1.15 ejaculation is actually beneficial for
1.15 our health
1.15 some legalistic Christians will tell you
1.15 that this is a conspiracy and this is
1.15 where I&;d say look it up yourself you
1.15 guys look up the research for it in the
1.15 scientific community look up research
1.15 for it in the Christian community and
1.15 see where you land on you to figure this
1.15 out for you men research shows the
1.15 ejaculation removes toxic products which
1.15 decreases the risk of cancer and also
1.15 prevents erectile dysfunction for the
1.15 ladies
1.15 research shows that masturbation can
1.15 lower the frequency of UTIs and decrease
1.15 period pain real truth real quick does
1.15 acknowledge this it releases oxytocin
1.15 zit releases you know other chemicals
1.15 that are that that produce and has a
1.15 sense of calm and relaxation and
1.15 happiness serotonin and for me this is
1.15 where opinion comes in I think it&;s
1.15 really interesting that it&;s presented
1.15 as a really terrible
1.15 thing that all of these euphoric
1.15 qualities are produced through pleasure
1.15 and masturbation I don&;t think it&;s at
1.15 all the same as taking cocaine or
1.15 another drug to produce that these are
1.15 naturally occurring in your body but
1.15 this always draws me back to Romans 8:5
1.15 that verse is about your flesh battling
1.15 your spirits and I think in church a lot
1.15 of times we&;re taught to vilify our
1.15 bodies we&;re told to consider our flesh
1.15 to be this like antagonist of ourselves
1.15 that&;s always wanting the wrong thing
1.15 that&;s always longing to destroy us and
1.15 then our spirit is elevated to you know
1.15 a god-like persona something in us that
1.15 is our best selves but in my opinion we
1.15 should not be vilifying our bodies the
1.15 way that we do I&;m not at all saying
1.15 whatever the flesh wants give it I&;m not
1.15 I&;m not I&;m not saying that however I
1.15 think a part of honoring our bodies is
1.15 to actually be assessing what our body
1.15 wants that is potentially aligned with
1.15 our spirit for example I&;ve been really
1.15 sick and I kept craving oranges I was
1.15 dreaming about oranges I was thinking
1.15 about oranges my body was like Brenda I
1.15 need vitamin C go get it and I didn&;t
1.15 stop thinking about it until I gave my
1.15 body what it needed and that was a way
1.15 of honoring my body if you fear your
1.15 flesh in your body I don&;t believe you
1.15 can honor it to your best ability on the
1.15 other hand I do have to validate what
1.15 real truth real quick is saying
1.15 literally hardwires our brain it creates
1.15 pathways that our brain then begins to
1.15 operate on and connect certain
1.15 activities with certain experiences of
1.15 pleasure you can potentially become
1.15 addicted to masturbation and this again
1.15 is where I think we as Christians as
1.15 spiritual beings are required to be
1.15 still in ourselves to practice prayer
1.15 and meditation and really trust
1.15 ourselves to know what our boundaries
1.15 are what is good for each of us as
1.15 individuals if you&;re using masturbation
1.15 as the
1.15 of punishing your partners separating
1.15 from them or because you&;re sad and the
1.15 dopamine that is produced in your body
1.15 is bringing you joy and you&;re becoming
1.15 addicted to that feeling you need to
1.15 address those things because those are
1.15 not good that&;s not a good reason to be
1.15 pleasuring yourself for number five
1.15 we&;re often told that masturbation
1.15 increases our sexual desire what it
1.15 actually does is it increases your a
1.15 hunger thirst and craving for it even
1.15 more and you are gonna want to carry
1.15 that out which is gonna lead to
1.15 fornication if you are married it&;s
1.15 gonna come a point where you&;re gonna be
1.15 tired of imagining yourself with this
1.15 other person and you&;re gonna ultimately
1.15 want to have an adulterous affair with
1.15 them I&;ve already told you guys I am
1.15 anti fear just as God is anti fear
1.15 eighty times in the Bible he says fear
1.15 not if you masturbate you will
1.15 definitely cheat on your spouse if you
1.15 masturbate you&;ll just be a sex fiend
1.15 those are fear-based ideas masturbation
1.15 is a tool that I use to abstain from sex
1.15 and it works for me when I&;m thinking
1.15 about not having sex not touching myself
1.15 not having sex not touching myself I am
1.15 only thinking about sex and touching
1.15 myself versus if I choose to masturbate
1.15 those thoughts are gone this will not
1.15 have the same effect for everyone
1.15 everyone&;s body is unique
1.15 everyone&;s limitations and desires are
1.15 unique and you have every right to
1.15 assess within yourself because again
1.15 it&;s not directly stated in the Bible
1.15 whether or not masturbating is harming
1.15 you or aiding you whether it&;s a
1.15 positive thing or a negative thing in
1.15 your life number six is the big one
1.15 Matthew 5:28 you have heard that it was
1.15 said do not commit adultery but I tell
1.15 you that anyone who looks at a woman
1.15 lustfully has already committed adultery
1.15 with her in his heart for me this is by
1.15 far the most valid biblical argument
1.15 because when you&;re masturbating yes you
1.15 are having lustful thoughts
1.15 there are even New Age practices where
1.15 you use orgasm as a means to manifest
1.15 things that you want in your life I
1.15 would discourage you from lusting after
1.15 someone that you shouldn&;t be your best
1.15 friend&;s husband don&;t do that because
1.15 if you&;re alone in a room with them or
1.15 an opportunity presents itself and
1.15 you&;ve been engaging in that thought
1.15 over and over allowing yourself to
1.15 release all this dopamine with that
1.15 thought aligned with it you could wind
1.15 up in a sticky situation because
1.15 thoughts become reality that is a widely
1.15 accepted principle for a more
1.15 conservative perspective I found a great
1.15 article in Christianity today by Julie
1.15 Slattery I&;m going to attach it below
1.15 she presents a really measured idea of
1.15 how to view masturbation the last thing
1.15 I&;ll say is something very personal
1.15 which is that I&;ve never masturbated
1.15 thinking about a particular person I
1.15 think about scenarios romantic moments
1.15 whatever so in a way I think I kind of
1.15 found a loophole and I do not commit
1.15 adultery in my heart while masturbating
1.15 may be a tool you can consider last
1.15 argument number seven it focuses on how
1.15 I can get my needs met and it will
1.15 destroy the intimacy that you may have
1.15 with your spouse and it is a fact that
1.15 if you train your body Rick to find
1.15 pleasure over a period of time by self
1.15 stimulation that&;s not an easy thing to
1.15 flip a switch this argument drives me
1.15 insane because it&;s perpetuating
1.15 misinformation which I hate I can assure
1.15 you it is possible to orgasm in
1.15 masturbation and in sexual activity with
1.15 your partner they&;re not mutually
1.15 exclusive and also it&;s based in fear
1.15 religious leaders say if you masturbate
1.15 you won&;t be able to enjoy sex that is
1.15 fear fear fear fear
1.15 I hate fear my best rebuttal to this is
1.15 sense8 focus therapy this technique was
1.15 originated by masters in Johnson and as
1.15 a therapy you can either do alone or
1.15 with a partner if you have been
1.15 actually violated or if you&;re a man
1.15 that is having erectile dysfunction
1.15 this therapy is a way to heal you of
1.15 those experiences to really align your
1.15 mental health your spiritual health
1.15 again with your body which I really
1.15 believe is something that God would
1.15 advocate but I have talked to a lot of
1.15 Christians that have sexual dysfunction
1.15 in the bedroom because of their lack of
1.15 familiarity with their body or a lot of
1.15 Christians go outside of their marriages
1.15 extramarital affairs because they&;re not
1.15 being fulfilled within their marriages
1.15 masturbation is not about disconnecting
1.15 from your partner and doing this selfish
1.15 act again if you&;re a more conservative
1.15 Christian I&;m not telling you you have
1.15 to go masturbate but maybe don&;t vilify
1.15 it maybe you explore you know
1.15 masturbation with your partner side by
1.15 side in bed and if you&;re a single
1.15 person or if you&;re a couple that&;s
1.15 abstaining from sex until marriage
1.15 I would not discourage you from
1.15 masturbating it does not mean you&;re
1.15 each thinking lustful thoughts about
1.15 other people I think it means that
1.15 you&;re preparing yourself your body for
1.15 the partner that you&;re going to be
1.15 aligned with the more health you bring
1.15 to yourself the better of a partner that
1.15 you will be and it&;s all about trust you
1.15 guys are building trust within your own
1.15 bodies and within your partnerships
1.15 something I would warn about is from
1.15 Alan Park if you feel any remorse at all
1.15 then you can be assured that that is the
1.15 Holy Spirit that is convicting you to
1.15 stop whatever it is you&;re doing a lot
1.15 of us are going to have difficulties
1.15 assessing what is true conviction what
1.15 is truly wrong you feel it inside versus
1.15 what we&;ve been shamed to believe if
1.15 we&;ve been told again and again from the
1.15 pulpit the masturbation is a sin and you
1.15 masturbate just consider that might not
1.15 be conviction you&;re feeling that might
1.15 be shame God does not call us to live in
1.15 a shame never has never will and I don&;t
1.15 want you guys to feel like you have to
1.15 then it&;s been such a pleasure hearing
1.15 from you guys please like and subscribe
1.15 if you&;ve enjoyed yourself
1.15 god bless
