say this to brag but to show you that overcoming fapping or corn addiction isn’t luck in this video I’ll share the seven things I do if I wanted to overcome fapping or corn addiction from scratch today advice number four is something most therapists won’t tell you but it’s a total game changer confess Temptations not mistakes the unfortunate reality is that most men don’t reach out for help until it’s too late they’re super tempted or maybe even worse you’re reaching out after you’ve slipped this is way too late in the process if we can get ahead and start talking about Temptations the things that eventually lead to mistakes that’s going to be a much more helpful approach imagine you found out that there was a tiny leak of water in your basement and you had the option to either fix it right away or to just wait out if you weigh it out eventually you know that leak’s going to get worse it’s going to do more damage mold is going to start to grow it’s probably going to cost you a lot more to fix it confessing Temptations is like addressing the leak when it’s really really tiny before it becomes a bigger deal okay the next one might seem counterintuitive but it’s exactly what you need if you’re serious about quitting long term and that is to ditch streak counting Street counting doesn’t work because it’s shortsighted you know if you quit for 30 days what good is that really I mean what happens on day 31 or day 61 and on the flip side you might say well then I’ll set a longer goal so I’m going to try to go a thousand days but that’s such a big number that when you’re starting out it feels almost impossible but what if instead of Street counting you tracked Trends and the goal was simply for the trend to get more positive over longer periods of time now you’re probably wondering does this actually work so let me prove this with a client story from somebody that I worked with so Jameson had tried internet filters willpower and he was Notorious for Street counting he was always bragging about these streaks and how he had hit these certain benchmarks and he was trying to do better the next time and you know instead of 60 days he want to go 75 days we encouraged him hey rather than trying to you know hit some epic streak let’s track Trends instead and he bought into it so month one his first month working with me he had 23 slips now that’s pretty bad that’s not really a good start but he was trusting the process okay he was focusing on the more important things month two 18 slips month three eight slips so you can see if he’s just trying to count a streak these numbers are still not that great they’re discouraging he had eight slips in a month that’s not a good streak but if you can zoom out we can see that the trend is going in the right direction from 23 to 18 to 8 and if this trend keeps going that way eventually he’s going to get to zero so in month number four he had five slips in month number five he had two slips and by month number six he had zero and he has not looked back since and that was years ago so the point here is when you track Trends instead of counting streaks that’s where real progress is made especially if your goal is to get free and to stay free long term advice number three is don’t do it alone okay this is a mistake that I see a lot of guys making they’re too proud they’re too hopeless they’re too helpless to reach out and ask for some support when it’s actually exactly what they need to make make some progress the reality is when you join a community you learn faster you avoid a lot of the mistakes that you see other people are making and you don’t have this sense of I’m just trying to figure it out all by myself hopefully it works you can actually have some confidence that what you’re doing is going to make a difference and as a result it takes you way less time to recover now this next part might surprise you but it’s literally the key to everything that we’ve talked about so far all of the addiction research suggest that the opposite of addiction is not sobriety it’s connection the reason you’re addicted to Corn is because your heart has a void and to cope with that void you are turning to Corn you’re trying to get it to meet this void this void of intimacy this void of relationship of connection a sense of belonging and ultimately all of that explicit content you’re watching is like fast food intimacy it’s fake connection when you join a community with other people who are like you trying to pursue the same goals your heart starts to fill up that void starts to go away and your appetite and your cravings for corn go away as well number four is to follow a system now this is something the pros don’t even talk about but it’s so crucial I’ve worked with a ton of clients over the years who have worked with a therapist for you know 5 years 7 years 10 years and they barely made a scratch on the surface and after one or two sessions with me and my team they are experiencing completely different results and really and truly it’s just because we have a system see some therapists they just want to go with the flow they want to talk about what you want to talk about they don’t really have a path or a process to guide you through and as a result you end up wasting a lot of time aimlessly wandering sometimes into topics that have nothing to do with your recovery and as a result you end up wasting a lot of time and a lot of money imagine you’re in the woods totally alone you’re bleeding you’re limping you’re hurting and you have no idea how to get to the hospital if you had a cell phone you could at least look up directions and get a road bath there but you don’t have that but without any guidance or a clear path what do you think are the chances you’re actually going to make it to the hospital on time if you’re watching this video I know it’s because you’ve been injured by having corn in your life it’s caused you some sort of pain and it’s probably cost you things that you never dreamed it would cost you need a system so that you don’t end up in the dark with no clear path to follow and to move forward advice number five is don’t be slave to your phone the phone is the gateway to most slips and relapses that happen this one is really practical here are my best practices to ensure that your phone doesn’t cause you to stumble turn off notifications remove social media charge your phone outside your room don’t go on your phone after 8:00 p.m. now before we move on let me show you something really trauma this may surprise you but even if you didn’t have some big disaster in your life growing up as a child you still have trauma that needs to be addressed every client I’ve ever worked with has had some unresolved trauma in their lives and usually it’s been subtle things that you wouldn’t even really expect when you heal from trauma you begin to relate with others and yourself in a totally
